2019-2025 Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment, Griffith NSW

Delivering Modern Healthcare Infrastructure for Regional New South Wales

The Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment is a $250 million initiative that will provide state-of-the-art health facilities and enhanced services to the communities of Griffith and the broader Murrumbidgee region.

Located at 1 Animoo Avenue, Griffith NSW 2680, the project centres on a new purpose-built three-storey Clinical Services Building that brings all major clinical services together under one roof. Delivered as a joint project between Health Infrastructure and the Murrumbidgee Local Health District, the redevelopment has been carefully staged to maintain full hospital operations throughout construction.

The Clinical Services Building is on track to open in mid-2025, with overall project completion scheduled for 2026.

A Contemporary Facility Designed for Future-Focused Care

The redevelopment will transform healthcare delivery in the region by consolidating services into a modern, purpose-designed environment that supports contemporary models of care.

The new three-storey Clinical Services Building will include:

  • An expanded Emergency Department
  • Operating theatres and medical imaging services
  • New aged care and rehabilitation beds
  • Comprehensive outpatient services, including expanded renal dialysis, oncology, Hospital-in-the-Home programs, specialist clinics, and an outpatient rehabilitation gym

Additional improvements include a clinical link to the adjoining private hospital, upgraded on-site car parking, and refurbishment of the Ambulatory Care Hub to accommodate community health and transitional aged care services. A new Non-Clinical Services Building will support essential back-of-house functions such as linen, maintenance, and kitchen services.

These enhancements will better meet the current and future healthcare needs of local communities while creating a high-quality workplace that helps attract and retain skilled clinical staff.
